Hold the damn phone…

…unless it’s one you’ve picked up from Black and Blue, if that’s the case drop that phone like it’s hot. Because, well… It is!

For those of you who may not know who or what the hell I’m talking about, I’m referencing the main characters of the 1998 film, I Got The Hook Up.

As the first movie released by No Limit Records, I Got The Hook Up  is a hood classic along the lines of Friday and Foolish. Master P plays entrepreneur Black, alongside Anthony (A.J.) Johnson as Blue, two brothers from the hood looking to make a come up selling boomboxes and TV sets. While working from their van at “the lot” the two brothers come across a supply of cellphones that cause more trouble than the duo bargained for. This movie is dripping with cultural jokes, blackity black ass antics, and hood drama, not to mention it boasts stars such as Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and John Whiterspoon. If that doesn’t scream black greatness I don’t know what does.

Check out the trailer:

I’m sure a lot of people will agree with me that movies like I Got The Hook Up, The Player’s club, and Friday just aren’t being made anymore. Sure, some have tried and while they may have been funny, nothing has been made that taps into the same vein of being authentically black, funny, and timeless. Until today, I just knew those day’s were over and done.

And then this happened:

I couldn’t believe my eyes as I sat there at work reading articles on Google News and came across this gem.

They are making a part 2 and it looks like they are bringing back a lot of the original cast. That’s always a bonus in remakes in my opinion. I will definitely be in the movie on release date ready to laugh my ass off.

While I’m excited that there is a part 2 in the works I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about the execution.

I’m going to choose to remain positive about it !

The movies release date is set for 2019 and I CAN NOT WAIT!!

Have you seen I Got the Hook Up? What’s your favorite scene? Are you excited about a part 2?

Leave it in the comments below.

Until next time…

Don’t judge me, you don’t know my life!!
