T.I.’s call to action after Jussie Smollett’s assault , “Revolution Is Imminent”.

The king has spoken and I am ready for my marching orders.

In the wake of the assault on actor Jussie Smollett in Chicago early Tuesday morning many people are offering their condolences, words of encouragement, and oneness with the actor but I for one am tired of all of it and it seems T.I. is too.

The rapper took to Instagram yesterday to express his disgust with the entire ordeal as well as to call our people to arms.

It seems T.I. like myself is tired of the rhetoric that is getting us nowhere as a community of people. How much longer are we to sit peacefully and allow racists and homophobic people to attack us and we just continue to roll over hoping some great white person will come and put an end to our collective suffering? At what point do we realize that for us as a people, no one is coming to rescue us and that peaceful protests are no longer achieving the desired results. As T.I. so eloquently put, “…Prayers are great… But when I am wronged… get up off your knees and RIDE for ME!!!!!

Now, I don’t want to speculate on the rappers meaning behind the words but the message that resonated with me was that of a call to action. To me, the statement was meant to rile people up. To get people past the point of complacency that they have fallen into surrounding issues of racial and sexual inequality. To get people to do more than sit behind computer screens sharing thoughts and prayers and take to the streets and fight, physically if need be, for our place in society.

In 2019, Jussie Smollett was attacked by two white men who rained down a storm of hate speech on him while viciously attacking him. An unknown substance was poured on him and the assailants wrapped the whole ordeal by placing a noose around his neck in the streets of Chicago.

IN 2019!!!! IN 20 – FUCKING – 19!!!

This is truly fucking disgusting and I hope and pray street justice finds it’s way to these assholes before they can do any more harm to innocent people. I will definitely be following the outcome of this tragedy.

What did you get from T.I’s message? Leave it down below.

Until next time….

Don’t judge me. You don’t know my life!!!
