Suspended: Jussie Smollett

If you’ve been keeping up with this story the way I have then surely it has come as no surprise to you that Empire actor Jussie Smollet has turned himself in to answer to charges of falsifying a police report in regards to his January 29th attack. The actor alleged he was confronted by two white men wearing MAGA hats where he was assaulted physically, had bleach poured on him, and a noose was hung from his neck.

When the news broke of the attack that day I felt all of the emotions many people around the country felt. Anger, frustration, sympathy, concern, and a burning demand for justice to be brought to whoever these assholes may be. See T.I.’s call to action after Jussie Smollett’s assault , “Revolution Is Imminent”.

Much like the day that the news broke of this tragic, heart wrenching story, I am boiling mad, confused, frustrated, and concerned with the direction the narrative of this story has taken. While I am trying to keep a cool head and be patient as the rest of the story unfolds, I can’t help but think about how much damage will be caused to the plight of the black and lgbt community if the charges are true and Jussie did in fact orchestrate the attack on himself for celebrity status and money.

I am still very much so still following this story and best believe I will have more to say when it all comes out in the wash. Until then… Jussie Smollett is on suspension.

Until next time…

I’m holding my judgement, but it’s REAL hard.
